The County Council is taking a lead in the national energy drive to use fuel from forestry, crops and waste (Biomass), with its Lincolnshire Green Heat Scheme (LiGHT).
Since its launch in autumn 2005 the scheme has played a significant role in establishing biomass in Lincolnshire. Biomass ( fuel from forestry, crops and waste) reduces carbon emissions by up to 90% and supports local farming and forestry and the potential savings could be the equivalent nationally of taking 3.25 million cars off the roads.
Projects supported range from small schemes heating a few buildings to large schemes providing heat to hospitals, greenhouses and historic buildings.
