Caistor Townscape Heritage Initiative
The Caistor Townscape Heritage Grant Scheme will work in partnership to deliver English Heritage's THI by offering local partnerships and regeneration agencies grants to bring derelict and underused buildings back into use (both socially and economically). As well as reinstating Caistor"s Georgian Market Square, it will help reverse the town’s decline making it more economically prosperous.
The project is needed to restore the towns’ market place in order to encourage investment in the town, creating jobs and making use of derelict and unused buildings.
Project aims:
- Preserve, restore and enhance the historical architecture and cultural heritage of Caistor
- Promote and encourage investment in underused
- and neglected historic buildings
- Retain and reinforce the local identity and distinctiveness of the historic heart of Caistor
These aims will be achieved through a grant scheme that provides significant amounts of capital funding (up to 90% in eligible cases) to identified property owners in the centre of Caistor.
"The Townscape Heritage Initiative is helping property owners to restore
Caistor's heritage in and around the town centre and put back the value in those
properties which will be shared by visitors and the community alike. It has without
doubt given an economic boost to the town and is helping to restore Caistor to it's
former glory as a service centre for the whole of the north eastern part of West
Lindsey."
