Gibraltar Point visitor centre
The improvements to the existing Gibraltar Point Visitor Centre have created a high quality tourist attraction that adds value to an already significant tourism site. The extended facilities of a café, a new interactive exhibition and a larger sales area has substantially increased visitor spending thus contributing to the local economy.
Improvements have also been made to the Wash Study Centre which caters for a day and residential school, university and lifelong learning groups.
Project aims:
- To develop Gibraltar Point to be a quality environmental tourism asset
- To develop visitor facilities at Gibraltar Point to provide a high quality experience for all visitors inclusively.
- To increase the site’s economic performance and its contribution to the east coast economy.
- To improve the ICT facilities and upgrade the facilities within the Wash Study Centre and public toilets
"The re-developed centre has created a high quality tourist venue that is also very welcoming to local people. It’s encouraging participation in lifelong learning, enjoyment of the natural environment and provide facilities for mothers and toddlers. The project will also create new jobs and provide more volunteering opportunities. "
