Innovation across Lincolnshire has received another boost, thanks to the announcement by Lincolnshire Enterprise and the East Midlands Development Agency (emda), to fund the Innovation Lincolnshire Out-reach project for a further six months.
The project began in April 2007 and provides dedicated help and support to assist businesses to increase performance, develop and ultimately grow their market opportunities.
David Kitchen of PenzNprint, received help from Innovation Lincolnshire to diversify his existing printing, graphic design and retail business into a new market.
Commenting on the support he received, David said: “Without the specialist advice provided we would have struggled to get as far as we have in the time that we have. Innovation Lincolnshire has been pivotal in creating a targeted marketing campaign and has given us the confidence and the know-how to take our products to market.”
Andrew Thurston, Chief Executive of Lincolnshire Enterprise, said: “By focusing on innovation and technology, a large number of businesses across the county have realised their full potential through direct access to specialist help and mentoring, delivered by business and innovation experts. Having success stories such as these in the current economic climate gives testament to the value of access to business support initiatives such as the Innovation Lincolnshire Out-reach project.”
Andrew added: “The decision to extend the project beyond December 2008, was in direct response to the resounding feedback from participants and local business leaders.”
Extending the project to 30 June 2009, allows eligible businesses to access up to eight hours of free advice and support, plus free attendance at specific business events and seminars.
To complement the Innovation Lincolnshire Out-reach project, the City of Lincoln Council will open the ‘Think Tank’ to businesses in March 2009. This new development will be the hub for innovation in Lincolnshire, providing office accommodation with state-of-the-art facilities for start-up as well as established businesses.
